IT Tazee is Mohtashim’s effort to track the tech industry in the Middle East and Pakistan, and the growing number of innovative startups that are appearing in the region.

Tazee means fresh in Urdu/Hindi, the blog takes its name from the popular Pakistani slang term “Aur koi nai tazee ?” , which means ” And what else is new?”

About the author of this blog:

Mohtashim (aka Mr Shim) is a Technology Management Professional based out of Toronto, Canada. His expertise includes software development & infrastructure solutions. He helps his clients with their most challenging business problems by implementing cutting edge solutions, and works to effectively bridge the geek->business strategy chasm. Some have called him the “geek in disguise” for his ability to walk into the boardroom from the software lab and back again without having to duck.

Before moving to Canada, he worked at IBM and for startups in Pakistan and in Austin, Texas.  He is a Computer science graduate from the University of Texas at Austin and is now wrapping up his MBA at the Schulich School of Business.

Besides technology, he enjoys reading, blogging-by-night, strategy gaming, Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica. In his free time (Star trek time does get marked as “busy” on the calendar) he likes playing computer games and hanging out with his wife. While he doesnt go to the gym as often as he should, he can build economies and raise formidable strategic armies in Age of Empires III (on weekends).
