Wateen inks multimillion dollar deal with IBM for Tivoli solution

Business Tech Add comments

Wateen recently signed a million dollar plus deal with IBM to implement Tivoli Netcool across its enterprise. Netcool is a suite of products accquired by IBM (and subequently placed in the Tivoli bucket) that helps track and monitor large networks for errors and downtime. So chances are that next time your local wimax router goes down, it got reported to a support engineer’s cellphone through Netcool.

This is a big win for IBM software’s Tivoli brand, that has slowly been gaining ground against its competitors locally for the last 2 years. This especially puts a dent in Computer Associates’ efforts to gain a strong foothold in the local marker. Not to mention such software and service deals being extremely profitable, they also help build local talent on globally used tools. Tivoli, and similar proucts manage and monitor large scale IT infrastructures.

Tivoli is also installed at Telenor, Maersk sealand,Habib Bank and several other sites. If you don’t know much about Tivoli and Computer Associates, its really time to look into these. Read more about Tivoli and CA.
