UBL opts for Sungard’s SystemAccess

Business Tech Add comments

2007-2008 seems to be the “upgrade” and sell out year for Banks. Banks are either being bought and systems upgraded, or just being upgraded :) UBL has done a deal for Sungard’s SystemAccess to replace its current ageing core banking system.

Temenos now has several implementations and deals, Misys seems to be holding onto the same customers and for Sungard, this is the latest customer. The core banking scenario seems to be settling down and the business has gone to the foreign Financial software brands and SI companies locally that implement these solutions. For Sungard, UBL signing on is a big deal. It gets a chance to redeem itself from the bruises it got in the MCB implementation project. Either that, or in 6 months someone will be singing “another bites the dust” , [with reference ofcourse to UBL not to Sungard :) ]
