Well, if its not official then lets make it. Facebook has run a 18 wheeler NLC-style volvo container truck over Orkut. I dont even think its a fair comparison to make anymore.
Pity, because I do think Orkut’s technical architecture is superior, but then, in the end its not about technology is it ? its as much and more about strategy and execution
And those silly little $1 “gifts” (read pretty icons) are probably the best money making idea since selling sliced bread…

Actually, i would completely dis-agree that Orkut’s technical architecture is superior to that of Facebook’s. Infact it is the complete opposite. Facebook’s architecture is a very multi-layered one. They use a variety of different languages like C++, Java, Python & PHP for different tasks, each suiting different requirements. Take a look at Facebook’s project Thrift, to see how robust & flexible their architecture is based on a very programming language independent approach.

what do you actually mean by “technical architecture”?

technical architecture = “how the app is put together”

What do u think makes Orkut’s architecture better than Facebook’s? Facebook is written in PHP while Orkut is ASP.NET based. Is it that Orkut is more secure/faster/reliable than Facebook? or What?
