Indian firm Wipro, (Part of the big three Infosys, Tata TCS, Wipro) is said to be eyeing French consulting firm Capgemini as a potential acquisition target. Capgemini is the French version of Accenture. Both share a similar slogan “Consulting. Technology. Outsourcing” and Capgemini does for Europe (high food chain technology and consulting services) what Accenture does for the US.

There is alot of hype surrounding this rumour, but it seems more possible that Wipro would buy smaller, mid tiered consulting firms and then scale from there, but the knowledge transfer and learning for an Indian firm would be tremendous if they had open access to resources such as those of Capgemini’s or Accenture’s.
