Now your favourite National Foods masala will be tracked with SAP ;)

National Foods has been struggling for awhile with its “Epicor Scala” ERP system, a system developed in Eastern Europe and being marketed in the US. It seems that they have finally decided to throw the darn thing out and spend the money and move to a industry standard ERP system. Probably were not getting any real support.

Abacus seems to be the system integrator this time, (no love to siemens? hmmm…). Implementations due to start soon, probably already has.

This also goes back to what I was saying about ERPs : Dont try to go cheap, or cut corners, for the sake of your and your companys’ sanity. Forget your company accountant’s sanity..no one cares about that. ERPs are expensive because the ones that work do the job right. You can’t put a price on everyone in a company of hundreds having the same sales number in the daily status meeting.

Here is a link to the “success” story as published on Epicor’s site.  This ofcourse before they were thrown out and replaced.
