It was as surprising as it was welcome. 2 Pakistani firms, Netsol and Pixsense won the regional Apicta awards in Singapore. Apicta can be termed as the CES of Asia. Over 30 countries, lots of mature software firms, and amazing products and services were showcast. Kudos to Netsol and Pixsense for building products that hold their own against these odds.

We here in Pakistan seem to take in the misperception thats doled out in the international media. This, along with our “import” centric culture usually makes us think that the work we do is somehow not as good as the products that are available abroad.

Well, to the cynics and the doubters, once again, heres even more proof that the software we build is as good as what you would find anywhere in the world.

This year, 3 companies have gone head to head against several other software firms globally and won against them.

Earlier this year, Five Rivers (with Clearcube) won the VMware awards in the US. And now, Pixsense and Netsol have wont at Apicta. Whats next? Hopefully more companies applying and taking part in these competitions and many more winning…
