Finally, some competition! Even if it is against the state run telecom monopoly, but something atleast. Not to be put down by PTCL, Maxcom has come out with guns blazing in response to PTCL’s “1 MB unlimited for 5000/month” package by offering the ame itself, AND have gone further and are also offering 256k unlimited for Rs 1800/month, something that PTCL as yet does not offer.

For Offices the connection rates are still quite reasonable.. 

Demand for PTCL’s 1MB connections have soared and just as expected, their service quality and response has fallen by the same ratio.  PTCL at times will give you 56kb/sec download and at times 27kb/sec. Upload isnt really all that, I dont think you will get more than 10kb/sec on a good day. On a 1MB connection you are/should get atleast 60kb/sec down all the time.  For example, to compare, a 256k/sec package should give you a 30kb/sec pipe for a home connection. I do no thave an idea how Maxcom will perform but we have ordered the package for work. 

We are testing out the PTCL and maxcom connections at work nowadays, I will do a followup post shortly and let everyone know how the experience was.
