Abacus advertises SAP BusinessOne Implementations

Business Tech Add comments

Lets start the week off with some ERP related news : 2 Days ago, Abacus released a large full colour advertisement that appeared in Dawn, stating that the following are now SAP BusinessOne customers: (click more to read on)

  • Medipak limited
  • Ittehad chemicals ltd
  • Wilsons speciality malls
  • Rohde and schwarz Pakistan
  • CHT chemicals Pakistan

Except for Medipak, this is the first time I have heard the names of these companies, which squarely means they are SME, the right target market for SAP BusinessOne.

Abacus is the primary distributor/partner for BusinessOne, which is the “baby” version of the SAP product, designed to capture SME customers with low prices and then in the future migrate them to “full” SAP. It has added some resellers to its list as well. Its designed to compete with Microsoft Dynamics/Great Plains (and a some Oracle products).

Now given the complexity of ERP deployments in Pakistan, it is safe to assume that some or most of these customers are still implementing BusinessOne but have already dished out the 50,000 Euros or more for a 10 user license, thats the average price tag with discounts for SAP B-One.

Abacus started the BusinessOne practice about 1.5 years ago. Its a good start if they have gained 4-5 customers in a year. They should also look at the automotive industry. There is alot of room to sell BusinessOne to automotive suppliers that can then interface with the SAP installations at say, Toyota-Indus Motors who are one of SAP’s major local customers.
